A collage of words that have to do with Fraud IssuesYou learned in module 7 how to document a time card for the PCA hours you work. When Medical Assistance pays for PCA hours based on timecards completed incorrectly, this may rise to the level of fraud.
Medical Assistance is Minnesota’s Medicaid program. Medicaid defines fraud as

“an intentional deception or misrepresentation made by a person with the knowledge that the deception could result in some unauthorized benefit to himself or some other person.”

Under Minnesota law, “theft of public funds” is a felony regardless of the amount.  In plain speech, you are breaking the law if you claim even one hour of PCA services on your time card that you did not provide.

In this module you will see examples of fraud and how to avoid the consequences of committing fraud.
